A tradition begun by former Mayor Estine Tipton, the kiddie parade is an opportunity for Estill's kiddos to show off their wheels! Please arrive by 9:45 if your child would like to participate. All of the children will receive a gold dollar from Mayor Tipton after circling the venue.

10am-6pm: train rides
Gramling Steam Operations
Take a ride on "Sadie!" Families and individuals will have the opportunity to ride behind a 90-year-old steam locomotive, the former Lehigh Valley Coal Company No. 126. The 0-6-0ST saddle tank locomotive was built by Vulcan Iron Works for the Lehigh Valley Coal Company and was put into service in May 1931. It is now owned by the Gramling family in Indiana. The coal-fired engine will be under steam and will operate short, half-hour excursions through the Kentucky Steam property. Cost: $3-$5 for coach, $30 for cab rides. Click here for details. |
all day: vintage car cruise-in
For those with classic cars, cruise on down River Drive and through the underpass to come back up Kirkland and park your ride! We will have specially designated spots for all classic and vintage cars so that other vehicles are not parking nearby.
For more information please contact Tommy "Tobo" Bryant, (859) 582-9422 |
11am: 9/11 memorial service
The significance of the day's date is not lost on us. We will take some time to acknowledge the 20th anniversary of this tragic event with recognition of our local emergency services, prayer, a presentation of the colors, and the singing of the national anthem.
Special guests include Brother Bill Wesley and Miss Kentucky 2021 winner Haley B. Wheeler |
12pm-7pm: Live music
7pm-9:30pm: Steam Whistle Blow
Come hear whistles of the past echo through the hills and valleys of beautiful Estill County, Kentucky. This unique event will wrap up the annual Ravenna Railroad Festival and feature authentic steam whistles from our nation's railroads. Whistles from the Louisville and Nashville, Southern Railway, Norfolk and Western, Chesapeake and Ohio, Baltimore and Ohio, Pennsylvania, and other railroads will be connected to live steam and be heard through eastern Kentucky for the first time in decades.
If you would like to bring a whistle to hook up to steam, please contact Chad Harpole at [email protected] to register. There is a $25.00 hook-up fee for whistles to live steam. All whistles are subject to safety inspection by Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation prior to hook-up. Cost:
